SUMMER BLOCKBUSTER CRUNCH TIME: New Games, New Features

by FantasyMoguls.com

Greetings, Moguls! Thanks for all of your great feedback on the new design and the new games. I just wanted to check in and let you know what's coming up, and also tell you about some new stuff we've just launched.

Before I do that, however, here are two things to remember:

1) Pick Your Movies
2) Invite Your Friends

Do it before next Friday, May 4 to get in on Fantasy Moguls's first-ever summer blockbuster season! Leagues and groups are filling up fast, so don't be shy about creating a new leagues for you and your friends to play in.

On to the new stuff ...

Get your game on with Spidey

Yup, we launched a new game. Look at the home page. It's pretty simple: Tell us how much you think Spider-Man 3 will earn on opening weekend. The closest guess wins. Closest as in you've got to pick the number right ON THE MONEY. Get it? What are you waiting for? Go to the home page to make your pick; or, if something about this very complicated game escapes you, read more on how to play. (Actually, there are some good stats there on all time biggest opening weekends, so you may want to check it out.)

Also, you guys have been prognosticating about the big opening weekend for a while now. Changed your minds yet? Check out what the buzz on the boards has been, plus I pulled a few other links that might help you make your On the Money pick:

  • tuan69's thread on Spider-Man 3 predictions
  • transformers2's summer box-office prediction thread (all movies)
  • toomass's link to the Spider-Man 3 trailer
  • Mase's link to the Hollywood Reporter review
  • transformers2's poll to vote for which summer sequel you're most excited to see

I'm sure I'm missing some of the relevant posts on the boards, so feel free to use the comments field below to add those threads plus links to any other great Spider-Man 3 content online.

Say hello to your personal News Wire

In addition to adding the message boards back to your leagues earlier this week by popular demand, we've added a cool new feature called the "News Wire" that you can find on your profile page (click on your profile link in the top of the left column to check it out). This is especially great if you're playing in multiple leagues -- you'll be able to see in your News Wire who has posted on what message board, plus you'll also get notified when new members join your leagues. We'll be adding more types of info and events to the news feed in the future so stay tuned.

Promote the movies on your slate

You may have seen the "go see my movie" badge on your studio page already; we've now added that to all movie pages and have added a link to the movie title pages to "add to my studio slate" to make it easier to take action to change your movie slate directly from those pages. Basically, you just grab the code and drop it into your blog or MySpace profile, or you can share via Facebook using the little Facebook icon. You can check it out on any movie title page (scroll down).

To get an idea of what you can do with these movie promo badges, here are a few examples of what other folks playing the game have done:

  • Bryan in Missouri's blog is using the movie badges
  • Deb.U.Taunt has posted some MySpace movie badges
  • Larry in Springfield's blog, just posted, also uses the badges

That's all for now. Tell us what you think -- I know you will!!
