EARLY THURSDAY ESTIMATES: 'Iron Man' Grabs Another $5.34M and Will Top $170M by Monday Morning!
by Steve Mason
THURSDAY NIGHT: The first blockbuster of the season, the Jon Favreau-directed Iron Man (Paramount), has grabbed an estimated $5.34 million on Thursday, finishing its first full week with about $126.65 in domestic box office. That gives the Marvel Studios production the 18th-best seven-day take in box office history. I went online with my weekend production earlier today, and it is very clear that Iron Man will win a second consecutive weekend. With an Iron-clad total of $45 million (or more) over the three-day, Robert Downey Jr.'s superhero debut will have over $170 million banked by Monday morning.
